Radiology Run for Archie

One service The Archie Foundation offer is financial grants to NHS staff and their departments. This could be to fund a course which is outwith NHS budget, or funding items to help make the department comfortable and child friendly.

One department which has recently benefited from this service is the Radiology department. Something like a CD player breaking doesn’t sound like a lot, but as MRI Superintendent Laura explains “it is vital for the children having an MRI as we can play music or a story to distract them and help them keep still”. Archie funded a replacement, and the team were so thankful, they decided to give back to The Archie Foundation.

Laura and her colleague Bilal (also from the Radiology department) ran a 10K last year, just for the challenge of running. They caught the bug however, and this year decided to run for charity and get others from the department involved. They chose Archie because of the support they’d received and managed to recruit a team of 11 to join them in their running challenge. To date they’ve raised over £1,500 for Archie services and we couldn’t be more grateful.

It’s so lovely to know that we have the support of the NHS staff behind us. Well done to all of the runners and thanks again for supporting The Archie Foundation!
