Meet the kids behind ARCHIE ‘thank you’ cards posted to homes across Scotland
Two local schoolgirls who won a charity competition to design a thank you card have seen their designs posted to homes across Scotland.
Pupils from Auldearn Primary School and Helmsdale Primary School entered a competition run by The ARCHIE Foundation to design a thank you card and certificate for the charity to send to donors and supporters across the country.
Ten designs from each school were shortlisted before being judged by a panel which included the charity’s Chief Executive.
The winning designs were submitted by Martha, a P2 pupil from Auldearn and Carly, a P6 pupil from Helmsdale.
Martha’s drawing featured a brightly coloured flower and loveheart with the words ‘Thank You’ written above.
She said: “I wanted to draw something bright and I thought this looked nice. I like drawing and I love art so it was fun to take part.”
Carly’s colourful design featured ARCHIE the bear with a range of toys including rockets, building blocks and a ball.
She said: “We got to use the iPad to come up with ideas of what to draw, and we got a copy of ARCHIE to draw too. I’m really pleased with my design and happy I won.”
Dawn Cowie, Fundraising Coordinator for The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “We were very impressed with all the new thank you card and certificate designs that the pupils from Auldearn Primary School and Helmsdale Primary School entered into our competition.
“The drawings were of a really high standard and it was very difficult for our team to choose the winners.
“We want to thank Martha, Carly, and everyone else who took part in the competition.”
