Hilton ARCHIE Cafe Nominated for National Award
We are excited to announce the Cobbs ARCHIE Cafe in Hilton Community Centre has been nominated for a national award. The cafe has been shortlisted in the Best Not For Profit Cafe category at the 1st Scottish Cafe Awards, thanks to nominations from members of the public.
Sharon Cameron, Manager of Cobbs ARCHIE Café, said: “All the staff and customers are delighted we have been nominated for this award.
“We have a fantastic café team and a wonderful relationship with the local community. We are incredibly proud to have this recognised through our nomination for Best Not for Profit Café at the inaugural Scottish Café Awards.”
The Cobbs ARCHIE Café is the only café from the north of Scotland nominated in this category. It will compete against establishments in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow for the prize.
The café, which opened in 2013, has a strong family focus and includes a soft play area and regular children’s activities such as storytelling. It also has an information hub with advice on child care and welfare available. The proceeds from the café are donated to The ARCHIE Foundation to support the charity’s work at the Highland Children’s Unit in Raigmore Hospital.
David Wood, Chief Executive of The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “We are absolutely thrilled the Cobbs ARCHIE Café in Hilton Community Centre has been nominated for this award.
“Since it opened the café has acted as a community hub and has played an important role in supporting families with young children in the Hilton area. Taking young children out for the day can be a stressful experience, particularly for young or lone parents. The café provides a relaxed, safe space for families to take away some of that stress. They can enjoy spending time together in fun, child-friendly environment.”
The awards ceremony takes place on Monday 11thJune at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.
