Curtis Banks staff raise more than £14k in charity partnership with ARCHIE

A financial services firm in Dundee is being celebrated for raising more than £14,000 for sick children in the local area.

Curtis Banks in Tayside chose The ARCHIE Foundation as its charity partner over the last two years, raising an incredible £14,640.78.

The team worked so well together to raise the phenomenal amount for the charity. Auctions, bake sales, sweepstakes, tombolas and other fundraising events were held at the firm’s base on West Marketgait.

Other fundraisers included the Dundee Kiltwalk in 2018 and 2019, while one team member, Seamus Smith, took part in an epic 265-mile bike ride between the three hospitals The ARCHIE Foundation supports with charity patron Mark Beaumont. He was supported by his colleagues who took up the challenge of a sponsored cyclathon back in the office.

Members of the Curtis Banks team were on hand for a special cheque and certificate presentation alongside ARCHIE representatives to celebrate the achievement.

Money raised by the team at Curtis Banks contributed to ARCHIE’s £2 million fundraising target for the new children’s twin-operating theatre suite at the Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Work on the project began in October and ARCHIE is now fundraising to enhance the experience of being in hospital. This could be through the provision of accessible play in waiting areas, enhanced equipment, further clinical refurbishment and emergency funding for local sick children and their families to minimise the impact of health inequalities and deprivation.

Jenny Leith, the Managing Director of Curtis Banks’ Dundee office, commented: We are delighted that our team here in Dundee have managed to raise such a large sum for The ARCHIE Foundation over the past two years. I know every member of staff was fully committed to making a difference to the care given to local children when they really need it.

Sarah Johnston, Fundraising Manager of ARCHIE Tayside, said: “We’d like to express our gratitude to everyone at Curtis Banks who has helped to raise this phenomenal amount of money.

“This is a perfect example of how businesses can raise lots of money for good causes through corporate and social responsibility programmes.

“Not only did they do just that but it appears they had a great time and built up team spirit while doing so.

“The whole team deserves praise for playing their part and getting right behind the cause.”
