YPI Finalists Run for Archie

For those of you who may not be familiar, YPI (short for Youth Philanthropy Initiative) is an initiative created by The Wood Foundation where participating schools each receive £3,000. This money will go to a charity within the local community and it’s the student’s job to try and win the money for their chosen charity. Developing lifelong skills, students reach out to their charity, research them and present how and where £3,000 could be spent. They then go head to head with their peers in a competition to determine where the school’s £3,000 will go.

The Archie Foundation were lucky enough to be chosen by a group of students attending Albyn School. They showed commitment from the start by contacting us and arranging a tour of our facilities. They kept in touch throughout their presentation and managed to get into the finals. Although they showed a lot of hard work and creativity throughout their presentation, unfortunately they came second to another rival group. This wasn’t going to deter them from making a difference for The Archie Foundation however.

Having learnt how £3,000 could help our Financial Support service, the group of 4 girls were determined to still raise some funds and help make a difference. They signed up to Run Balmoral and challenged themselves to run the 5K race, setting up a JustGiving page alongside to try and help raise some funds.

Having completed the race on Saturday 27th April, the girls have officially raised £1,000, which if you include Gift Aid, makes it £1,218.75! We’re so incredibly grateful for their hard work and support, both by promoting our services and what we do through their YPI project and raising much needed funds through their incredible fundraising. Well done girls, you should be so proud of what you’ve achieved.

Is your school part of the YPI initiative? We’d love to have you represent Archie! Contact Josie Campbell to arrange a chat.
