Whatever age you are, and whatever your background is, if you have an interest in supporting the work that we do we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to have a chat about volunteering opportunities please get in touch by calling us on 01224 559559 or emailing hello@archie.org.
Visiting the hospital can be a daunting experience and we are proud to have the support of a small team of Archie volunteers who provide a warm welcome for visitors, including helping young patients and their parents/carers find their way around the hospital. Some of our volunteers also visit the wards to offer kinship and support for families – the difference a smile and kind conversation can make should never be underestimated! If you could offer a few hours each week and if you have the skills and attitude to support, we would love to hear from you – support@archie.org.
We are always looking for support at our events and fundraisers to help them run smoothly and successfully. This may include meeting and greeting, ticketing, raffle selling and stewarding.
Examples of events we look for volunteer help at are balls, dinners, our annual abseil, shows and much more!
We also look for volunteers to help at events run by our supporters which in the past have included fun days, concerts, toy sales and coffee mornings.
Archie Child Bereavement Service is looking for new Bereavement Responders to support children who have lost a loved one.
Duties include visiting bereaved families, providing emotional support and guidance to children and young adults whilst helping them comprehend their emotions, and utilizing a toolbox of activities to aid families in creating and cherishing memories.
All Bereavement Responders undergo comprehensive training conducted by our experienced Bereavement team through weekly sessions. We prioritise equipping our responders with the necessary tools and resources to effectively carry out their activities and responsibilities. Rest assured, you will receive thorough support to ensure your readiness for the important work ahead.

Engaging with communities across the North of Scotland is instrumental in effectively raising awareness about the support and services we provide. We actively participate in numerous community events throughout the region, such as the recent Aberdeen Tall Ships, Aberdeen Highland Games, Portsoy Boat Festival, Turriff Show and a number of local gala events. We’d love to be present at other events, so if there’s a specific occasion you’re interested in and you can help represent Archie, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – hello@archie.org.
We are always seeking volunteers to represent Archie at various local supermarkets. We have established partnerships with well-known retailers including Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, and Co-op. These supermarkets kindly allow us to set up tables where we can sell merchandise or raffle tickets, promoting our cause and generating support.
Back-of-house operations within a charity are considerable and we’re really fortunate to have a small team of dedicated and highly organised and efficient volunteers who love rolling their sleeves up and helping us keep everything running smoothly. Counting cash donations, stickering toys for Archie toy boxes, processing gifts and donations and lots more besides, they’re a key part of Team Archie!
Place and retrieve our collection cans which are located all over the North of Scotland. This may seem like a small job but it’s incredibly valuable to us and not just in monetary terms – placing a collection can in a local shop, cafe or bar is also a fantastic way to spread awareness of Archie.
It may be small change that goes into these cans but in the right place they fill up quickly and those pennies soon start mounting up.. And remember “Mony a mickle maks a muckle”!
I became involved in volunteering because my grandson had many visits to R.A.C.H and it became very clear that The Archie Foundation played an important role in the hospital. I wanted to do something useful with my time and decided to get involved.
