Our thanks to Archie Volunteers

This week is national volunteers week and to honour it, we’re writing a number of blog posts. We’d love to say a huge thank you to those volunteers, past and present, who have helped us achieve so much over the years. Without the support of volunteers, The Archie Foundation wouldn’t have been able to directly support 2,907 babies and children in 2023.

How do volunteers make a difference within The Archie Foundation? Find out below.

  • Administrative volunteers. These volunteers are often seen in the donor care office, having a natter with a cup of tea and cake. They have numerous tasks which are vital to the charity, this includes counting money from collection cans and buckets; sorting through toy donations and filling up toyboxes when needed and of course making the best cups of tea.
  • Hospital volunteers. These volunteers, you will see in Archie t-shirts around the children’s hospital. Tasks include being a friendly first point of contact for those coming into the hospital and directing them where to go if they are lost and helping in the wards. Whether it’s filling up water jugs, running to get something for a nurse or simply sitting with a patient whilst the parent goes to get a well earnt coffee, they make the hospital that little bit friendlier and less intimidating.
  • Archie Child Bereavement Service volunteers. These volunteers are out in the community. They go round to children’s houses and help them come to terms with their grief. With such a big responsibility, these volunteers are absolutely incredible. They are such a support for the whole family and are there for as long as the family needs. They will always be a big part of a child’s journey.
  • Event & Fundraising volunteers. Last but not least are the volunteers you’ll see at events, or out in the community at awareness stands. They help on event days, helping to create a fun engaging atmosphere and helping increase fundraising too! Whether they’re walking around with a charity bucket, helping on the registration desk, or setting up a stall in their local Asda, they always have a smile on their face and we couldn’t ask for more from those who represent the charity.

So as you can see, our volunteers do an awful lot, and we couldn’t do what we do, without their hard work and support. If you’d like to help make a difference to children, babies and their families, why not think about volunteering! If you’re interested in any of the above roles, or think you can help in some other way, please do get in touch! We’d love to have you as part of the Archie Team.

Thank you once again, to our volunteers. You are all incredible!
