Lochlan’s Story

Lochlan lives in Tayside, is 5 years old and loves to play with number-block toys and practice writing numbers.

Lochlan has a diagnosis of significant speech delay, avoidant & restrictive eating and sensory processing issues and was frequently falling off of his chairs at home or his chairs at nursery.

His Occupational Therapist suggested that the family trial a ‘Lalloo Seat’, which they borrowed on loan for a period of time.

A Lalloo Seat is a specialised seat that provides comfort and support to anyone who requires a safe, calming, secluded and personal place to sit. The feeling of security and calm the Lalloo brings to the user allows them to have longer periods of concentration and enables them to stay in environments that otherwise could be overpowering and intimidating.

The Lalloo Seat turned out to help Lochlan more than the family could have imagined! It helped Lochlan regulate, and this showed in a positive impact on his behaviour and he was much safer with no falls.

Lochlan was a much happier child when he had access to the Lalloo Seat, following on from this positive impact during the trial, his family were able to receive support from The Archie Foundation for funding to purchase Lochlan one to keep on a permanent basis.

Playing in his very own Lalloo seat has brought Lochlan a great deal of enjoyment and made a real difference in his life!

“We would like to say a massive Thank you to The Archie Foundation Tayside for helping us to purchase a Lalloo sensory seat for Lochlan. This seat helps Lochlan in so many ways. The Lalloo seat provides proprioceptive input safely which Lochlan is always seeking. It provides a safe space for him when he is overwhelmed. Since having the Lalloo seat, Lochlan has increased his concentration, he has started writing and drawing calmly and he eats better sitting in his new seat.” – Lochlan’s Mum
