Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital covers a large geographical area, and many families live hours from the hospital – as far afield as Orkney and Shetland.
The Archie Family Centre has 19 rooms available to parents of children receiving treatment at RACH. The rooms are all ensuite and include pull-out, buddy-beds so siblings can stay too. Why not take a quick virtual tour so you know what to expect?
The centre’s aim is simple – to keep families together while children are in hospital. This has been found to be hugely beneficial and has an immediate and profoundly positive impact on both children and parents.
Accommodation at The Archie Foundation Family Centre is provided free of charge to parents and entirely funded by voluntary donations to The Archie Foundation. One night’s accommodation for a parent costs £20.00. Just think of the difference your donation could make to a parent at arguably the toughest time of their life.
The Archie Family Centre also has a communal kitchen and lounge where parents can make and eat their own meals and rest when they can. There is an oven, microwave and fridge so that you are not restricted with what you can eat during your stay. Basic items such as milk, bread, tea and coffee are also provided.
Our Support Manager, Gillian, is based in the centre Monday-Friday. Make sure to pop past and say hello or pay her a visit if you have any queries during your stay.
“The Archie Foundation is such a wonderful cause and I am only just learning how important it is to have donations and funding to help and support other parents and patients in need. I had a six-week stay at RACH with my two-year-old daughter who was in traction and without the help, support and donations it would not have been possible for me to stay here with her overnight.”
