Events & Fundraising Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Rebecca Cheyne, a regular face in all things events and fundraising for Archie. Find out what made her want to volunteer and how she finds it.
How long have you been a volunteer at Archie?
I have been a volunteer with Archie since 2019 and haven’t looked back since.
What made you want to volunteer for Archie?
I had heard a lot about the charity and the work that they were doing in the local community and once I started volunteering, I later learned that my family had been supported by Archie when I was a baby.
What type of volunteering do you do?
I am a fundraising volunteer and help out at fundraising events, supermarket collections, placing collection cans and I am on the Glitter Ball committee. I have also completed some fundraising challenges including two abseils and hosted a brass band concert.
What do you enjoy about being an Archie volunteer?
I love volunteering for Archie because of the people I volunteer with and the people I get to meet at all the different events. The Archie team are so welcoming and friendly. Knowing I can do something I enjoy whilst helping families who need it most.
What would you say to anyone considering becoming an Archie volunteer?
If you’re thinking of becoming a volunteer, I’d say DO IT! Archie has such a fun and friendly team of volunteers. You are always made to feel appreciated and part of the team! Any time you can offer is greatly appreciated whether its an hour a week or a few hours at an event here and there, you are always welcome.
