A nights stay for a family in Archie’s Family Centre

£20.00

Archie’s 19 bedroom “Hotel” at RACH is to enable parents to be close to their children while they are in hospital. Keeping families together through these stressful times has been found to be hugely beneficial for children and for parents. RACH covers a large geographical area, and many families live hours from the hospital – as far afield as Orkney and Shetland!
Many parents stay for just one or two nights, but others are there for weeks, months and even years! One family from the Black Isle recently told us they estimated that had it not been for ARCHIE it would have cost them around £15,000 to stay close to their son whilst undergoing cancer treatment! They told us “there are no words that can express our gratitude”
The Accommodation is free of charge to parents, but costs ARCHIE £20 per night. As well as the bedrooms, which are en suite, the centre has a kitchen and lounge where parents can make and eat their own meals and rest when they can.
Another mum who spent a whole year in the centre without getting home to the Orkney Islands told us, “The Centre was a godsend for our family whilst our daughter was undergoing cancer treatment. It enabled me to be close to her as she was frequently very unwell and in HDU which is located directly opposite the parent accommodation. It also allowed me to prepare her favourite meals to take up to the ward to try and entice her to eat during chemotherapy. I stayed there for over a year and could not have managed without the services of such a fantastic charity.”
Our ARCHIE Family Centre really is a lifeline for so many families! 💛
